We are absolutely thrilled to advise our members that Greystones LTC was awarded a €75k grant under the 2017 Sports Capital Programme towards the upgrade of our floodlighting. This fantastic news was received from the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport (DTTAS) last week.
This is a provisional grant allocation and the club must comply with the terms and conditions of the grant application before formal approval is received from the Department and work can commence. The club has until 30 November 2019 to draw down the grant (it may be done in stages as costs are incurred) and is required to partly raise funds to complete the project. (As the capital was allocated for lighting if we wish to use the grant for any other purpose then Department approval is also necessary).
Greystones LTC is one of a number of tennis clubs to receive a grant this year. The club would like to thank the Committee members from 2017 and 2016 especially – Cathal Fitzgerald – Donal O’Sullivan – Eugene McCooey – Tom Shelley – and Jane Kirwan in the office – who played a significant role in the application as well as Tennis Ireland, Minister for Health Simon Harris TD and our local TDs for their support. We look forward to commencing this project which will enhance the tennis facilities in our club and assist our future development.
You will hear more from the Committee in due course but please come down and celebrate this great news story with the club at one of our social nights – the Turkey finals night on Friday 15 December or on our last bar night of 2017 – Tennis, Music and Takeaways – Thursday 21 December!
