Oh what a night! The Summer League Wrap Up Party was a fantastic night of celebration in Greystones LTC. The sun was shining, the atmosphere was amazing and young and old enjoyed a fabulous night of tennis, fun and inspiration to celebrate our historic win in DLTC’s Summer League Class 1 Men’s competition.
Our new champions kicked off with an exhibition doubles match between the Fitzgerald brothers – Niall and Ciaran against the proud captain Colm Og Molloy who partnered recent club member Stewart Doyle and then the legendary Tommy Hamilton! This was followed by a battle of the sexes which pitted Ciaran Fitzgerald against Anna Bowtell – fresh off the courts in Templeogue where she took part in the Ladies Championship Final of the Leinster Senior Open. Afterwards our Champions played and did some drills with the kids which they were delighted with.
A little while later in the clubhouse our President Frank Malone presented the team with the Champions Cup and their pennant – well done again to Ciaran Fitzgerald, Ordhan O’Sullivan-Hamill, Niall Fitzgerald, Colm Og Molloy, Stewart Doyle, Tommy Hamilton & Garbhan O’Nuallain, Shane O’Donnell & Nick Malone. The Club couldn’t be prouder!
Another highlight of the night was the inspiring speech from the Captain Colm Og Molloy who reminded us all what a great club we have. Video to follow!!
Delicious burgers and salad were served up while Bunty, Mark and his lovely daughter helped out in the bar. Later the club draw of €1000 was won by Keith and Lora O’Donnell – collected by Shane O’Donnell – lets hope he passed the cheque on! The lucky attendance prize winners of €100 each were Maureen Hanrahan and Mark Robinson.
A great night – well done to all! Looking forward to a repeat in 2018 already!
